Launching in Spokane, WA

Yard work from the kid down the street, with the paperwork handled.

YardHound connects homeowners with local people who want yard work: teenagers with a parent on the account, college students, retirees, neighbors. Mowing, leaves, weeding, snow, the jobs that are too small for a crew. You set the price, and your payment is held until you approve the work.

Who it's for

For yards that don't need a landscaping company.

Most yard work is a mow, a pile of leaves or a snowy driveway. A professional crew is more than you need, and a stranger from a neighborhood post is a guess. YardHound sits in between.

Workers on YardHound are independent people, often teenagers, not licensed professionals. For trees, irrigation repair or anything that needs a license, hire a pro.

For homeowners

Post a job in about five minutes.

  1. Outline the work

Trace the area on a satellite view of your yard. The outline is the job, so nobody has to guess.

  2. Mark the hazards

Sprinkler heads, a soft spot, the dog run. Each one gets a numbered pin and a photo.

  3. Set a price, or take bids

Say what you'll provide (mower, bags, gas) and when the work can happen.

  4. Pick a worker

See ratings, reliability and verification for everyone who responds. Your card is charged when you choose, and the money is held.

  5. Approve the work

Before and after photos come to your phone. Approve, or dispute within 72 hours. Silence approves it.

For workers

Find yard work close to home.

  1. Draw your area

Pick up to two zones you'll travel to. You only hear about jobs inside them.

  2. Get verified

Adults verify ID and pass a background check. Workers 14 to 17 link a parent or guardian instead.

  3. Accept or bid

See the yard, the hazards and what's provided before you commit. Teens send each job to their guardian first.

  4. Walk it, then work it

Check in at the house, photograph each hazard and the before shots, then start.

  5. Get paid

Money is released when the homeowner approves, or automatically after 72 hours. Tips go 100% to you.

What's different

The paperwork is the product.

The work is simple. What goes wrong is everything around it: who's coming, what they were told, what happens if it rains or the gate's locked. YardHound settles those before anyone shows up.

Every adult is checked

Homeowners and adult workers verify their ID with a selfie and pass a criminal history and sex offender registry check. Parents verify their ID too. How screening works

Parents approve every teen job

A worker under 18 can't accept or bid until their guardian has seen the job, the yard, the pay and the homeowner, and said yes. For parents

Payment is held

Your card is charged when you pick a worker, and the money waits until you approve. Workers know it's there before they show up.

Hazards are walked first

The worker photographs every pinned hazard before the Start button unlocks. A hazard you disclosed and they acknowledged is theirs to work around.

Before and after photos

Required on every job, side by side on your phone. If there's ever a question about the work, the photos answer it.

Every outcome, decided in advance

Cancel, rain-out, locked gate, no-show: one chart says exactly where the money goes in each case, and the app shows it before you tap. See the chart
